Happy New Year of the Tiger!

Making dumplings for Chinese new year, 2022

The Spring Festival is the most important festival for the Chinese people and is when all family members get together. The Spring Festival starts every year in the early days of the 12th lunar month and lasts until the middle of the 1st lunar month of the next year. For this year’s Spring Festival, while we could not reunite with our families and friends back home, we made stuffed dumplings to celebrate. Chinese dumpling are a very common northern Chinese dish, which look like silver ingots (boat-shaped and turned up at the two ends). Legend has it that the more dumplings you eat during the New Year celebration, the more money you can make in the New Year. Happy New Year of the Tiger! (written by Chinese Language Fellows Yi-Zhi Chen and Tianwen Han, and Chinese Teaching Associate Xian Fung) Continue reading »
