Documenting Two Understudied Languages

Seunghun LeeProfessor Seunghun Lee will present findings from field studies of Xitsonga (South Africa) and Nuosu Yi (China) to demonstrate how studying underdocumented languages helps us to expand our understanding of the human language. He will illustrate his talk with two field studies – whistled sounds in Xitsonga and comparative construction in Nuosu Yi. Dr. Seunghun Lee is Assistant Professor of Linguistics and TESOL at Central Connecticut State University. He currently works on the phonetics and phonology of understudied languages such as Xitsonga, Nuosu Yi, Burmese and Korean. His research interests include syntax-prosody interface, consonant-tone interaction, phonetics-phonology interface and L2 phonology.
